What information is included in the Community Heroes Newsletter
We include grant-writing tips, training alerts, and grant alerts. Community Heroes Newsletters are emailed monthly. For each grant opportunity, we include the following details (when provided by the funder):
- The Funder’s name
- Opportunity deadline
- Opportunity Amount
- Funder’s mission or priority causes
- Where to learn more and apply
Does my Membership include training?
Yes! Academy members have FREE access to ALL of our on-demand trainings and LIVE weekly training webinars that is offer by the Community Heroes Program.
Lite members have access to limited On-Demand webinars. Your webinar selection may change from month to month, but generally always includes

What are "Pathways"?
Community Heroes Pathways are connected e-learning webinars and learning material that allow members to build knowledge progressively for a particular goal. Pathways take the guesswork out of which webinars are best for your goal, and in what order you should view them in. Best of all, pathways include weekly live coaching and opportunities to network with others as you develop new skills along the way!
Will this membership help me find grants?
Yes! We send monthly grant alerts covering 9 program areas: Animals, Arts and Culture, Community, Education, Environment, Faith-based, Health, Human Services, and Social Justice.
- We do not research grants for a specific organization unless we are engaged in proposal writing.
- Academy members are coached on how to specifically identify mission-aligned funders.
Which Pathways are offered?
- NEO (New and Emerging Organizations): This Pathway is recommended for anyone considering starting a nonprofit or for newly formed nonprofits that are under a year old.
- P2P (Path to Profit): This Pathway is recommended for nonprofit leaders that are centrally focused on positioning their small to mid-sized organization for funding.
- “BEST” (Business Enhancement through Support and Training). This Pathway combines the best of the NEO and P2P Pathways, with a focus on starting, sustaining, and funding a nonprofit.
What type of Forms and Templates are included?
Academy Members have access to forms templates which will save hours of research and writing or paying for these forms online. The templates are fully customizable. Available templates include:
- Grant – Proposal Templates
- Board Documents and Policies
- Risk Management Policies
- Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
- Volunteer Agreement
- And sooooo much more!
Can I change my Pathway once I join the Academy?
Yes! You can select any Pathway that you’d like from the Academy Member Center.
What is the Community Heroes $1,000 Award?
The Heroes Award is a cash sponsorship of up to $1.000 offered every quarter to one of our Academy Members for doing amazing charitable work in their community.
Will I have access to webinars that aren’t listed on my particular Pathway?
Yes! As an Academy member, you’ll have access to ALL On-Demand e-learning webinars and materials. You can access On-Demand webinars anytime, day or night! The
Pathways are just an added benefit that will help you to stay focused on your goal.
In addition, all members have access to LIVE and on-demand webinars that are offered by our Partners (on our platform) every month.
Does my membership include private one-on-one consultation?
Memberships do not include ongoing free consultation. Many times, consultation involves helping you to identify a plan of action for solving the issue or accomplishing your charitable goal(s).
- Academy members receive 1 free (targeted) coaching session when they join.
- For ongoing private one-on-one consultation, Academy members receive a 50% discount off of our current consultation rates.
- Academy members can ask questions during our Community Café free of charge.
- Lite members receive 1 complementary consultation with any partner.
What discounts are offered to Academy Members?
Academy members receive discounts on grant-writing, private consultation, IRS 990N Filing and Nonprofit websites.

Can I cancel my membership?
Yes, though we’re not sure why you would! You can cancel your membership at any time by contacting email@example.com.
IMPORTANT: Because we provide Academy members with upfront benefits, there are no refunds issued for Academy membership cancellations – regardless of the date of upgrade or cancellation. You’ll have access to benefits until your paid term is scheduled to end.
Will you help me write my proposal or apply for grants?
Proposal writing is not included for free in our memberships. Academy members have access to grant-writing webinars and templates and get a discount on our grant-writing services.
Academy members with a specific question about a grant application can pose that question during our Wednesday Café.
Do you offer referral fees?
Yes! We’ll pay you $50 for referring anyone that joins the Academy. Plus, we’ll give the person that you’re referring a $50 discount off of the normal membership fee. Please join our affiliate program to get started!
